2 minutes: from sign-up to your first AI conversation
Full walkthrough: sign up & log in → create a guardrail policy → generate an API Key → finish your first conversation in the Playground, step by step.

Step 1: Sign Up / Log In

Open the JoyToken website and click Log In / Sign Up in the top-right corner. Register with your company email or log in with an enterprise account, then complete your profile as prompted.

Step 2: Generate Your Own Key (API Key)

The key is your “ID card” — every conversation afterwards relies on it to identify you.

  • In the left menu, click API Keys, then click Create New Key in the top-right corner;
  • In the pop-up window, fill in a Key Name (give it a recognizable name, e.g. “My First Key”);
  • Set an Expiration Time (optional: never expires / 30 days / 90 days / custom);
  • Bind a Guardrail Policy (if you don’t have one, go to the Guardrails menu and create one first — just pick a tier);
  • Click OK to generate. The page will show the key string — copy it immediately and keep it safe, it won’t be shown in full again after you close it;
  • Note: each account can keep at most 3 active keys at the same time — that’s plenty.

💡 Why create a guardrail policy first? Every JoyToken key must be bound to a policy (think of it as usage rules attached to the key: which tier it uses, spending caps, IP allowlists, etc.). So the order is: create a policy first → then create a key.

Step 3: Try a Real Conversation in the Playground

Once your key is created, “verify” it in the Playground first, and then you can chat directly.

  • Click Playground in the left menu;
  • Paste the key you just copied and click Verify API Key; if you arrived here from the API Keys page, the system recognizes it automatically — no manual pasting needed;
  • Once verification passes (you’ll see the policy and tier), type a sentence in the middle input box, e.g. “Introduce yourself in three sentences”;
  • Click Send, wait a moment, and you’ll see the model’s reply — your first AI conversation is done!

Step 4: Check Your Wallet (Credits / Usage / Billing)

  • Click Overview to see your account’s resource summary, including the Credits balance of each tier (your top-ups converted into quota) and usage;
  • For more detail, click Usage to see token consumption, request volume, and latency; for top-up records and spending details, click Billing;
  • Running low? Go to the Top Up page and buy a plan as needed.

Credits in JoyToken are consumed by token usage, and the balance is visible on the Overview page.

Step 5: Where to Get Help

  • For general questions, check the help docs first;
  • For errors or an invalid key, check first: whether the key was copied in full, whether it has expired, and whether you’ve hit the 3-key limit;
  • Still stuck? Click Contact Us and include the error message — it gets handled faster.

FAQ

Absolutely. Open the Playground and chat like you would in any messaging app — zero code required.

Your personal key, used to identify you and attribute usage and billing. Keep it safe — it’s only shown once at creation, and if you lose it you’ll need to create a new one.

The usage wallet you get from top-ups, consumed per call. Check the balance on the Overview page, and buy more on the Top Up page when it runs out.
